Last Thursday an EF1 Tornado touched down on the airport where the Sun ’n Fun Fly-In was being held in Lakeland, Florida. Almost 50 aircraft were damaged or destroyed but no one was seriously hurt. Tyler's Tailwind
Spring is here! The snow is melting, and April showers will soon bring May flowers. So what does that mean? Young Eagles events are just around the corner! As pilots we have to ready our planes, and for some of us we need to get current, especially those of us up north who may not have flown all winter. Pilots need to be prepared for that big day. It's a day that as a kid I loved, and I know to other kids it feels like Christmas Day during summer. I've already had people ask me about our Young Eagles events. It helps when you have coordinators like Tom and Jane Faussett and Dick Foster who spend all year planning so you'll have the information to share with people when they ask for it. We need to spend time to prepare for our events. Pick a day, then post it on the Calendar of Events at EAA.org. If you need a day, International Young Eagles Day is June 11 this year.

For you students who want to go on a Young Eagles flight, you can do a number of things. Go to your local airport, or go online to the EAA Calendar of Events and use the different search tabs to find a Young Eagles event in your area. Finally, when you find the date, tell your friends and invite them to come with you for a free airplane ride. Let's work together so we can have a productive year in aviation.

Tyler Whitney, EAA 1019639

Each issue, Tyler Whitney of Michigan provides a Young Eagle-turned-Young Eagle pilot perspective on aviation. Tyler was the first Young Eagle to pass his private pilot knowledge exam after completing the Sporty's Complete Pilot Training Course.
